Two tries from Ollie Thorley helped keep Gloucester in contention in Pool 3 of the Challenge Cup as they came from behind to win at Zebre.
Touchdowns by Johannes Meyer, Renato Giammarioli and centre Thomas Boni gave the Italian side the lead at the break.
But Gloucester built on first-half scores from Ruan Ackermann and Thorley with tries by Owen Williams, Richard Hibbard and Thorley's second.
Ciaran Gaffney scored the final try of the game to earn Zebre a bonus point.
They remain winless in Pool 3, but gave Gloucester a scare by taking a 19-14 half-time lead.
Despite making eight changes from last week's win over London Irish in the Premiership, last season's beaten finalists ultimately prevailed to keep in touch with leaders Section Paloise.
