Glasgow centre Sam Johnson will be sidelined for at least 10 weeks after undergoing surgery on a fractured jaw.

The Australia-born midfielder suffered the injury in the Warriors' home Champions Cup defeat by Montpellier.

Head coach Dave Rennie described Johnson last week as "probably our best midfielder in the first three months" of their Pro14 campaign.

Wing Leonardo Sarto, who scored two tries last weekend, requires further investigation into a shoulder injury.

They are among 12 Glasgow players currently sidelined, including full-back Stuart Hogg and flanker Callum Gibbins.

Johnson will miss the rest of Warriors' Champions Cup campaign and half-a-dozen Pro14 matches before an expected return in late February.
