@ Pyro 85Well I'm for sure not one of them.Loved the old school Scottish rugby of Findlay Calder et al years ago.Proper no-nonsense rugby, great rucking, something Scots used to do very, very well and were feared for.Yes I'm an Englishman and I support England but doesn't stop me from watching and appreciating other home nations and giving praise where its due.Well played!
I switched off after the red card. Delighted with the win and I'm guessing the never say die attitude the team must've shown. I'd imagine Glasgow's competitive mentality dropped significantly with the red card. I don't know what to feel watching these teams play each other. Certainly doesn't feel like a derby match to me. I'm more hungry to see them beating the Welsh and Irish teams.
As an Edinburgh fan I’m super chuffed about the result with only 14 men.Gutted Glasgow didn’t show their ruthless and clinical edge.Glasgow have the back division you’d want for Scotland but they’re forwards are very questionable.
Dave Rennie for Waleshttps://www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/dec/23/wales-successor-warren-gatland
Rather concerned going into the 6Nations having watched the match, and again on replay. Although the commitment and physicality seemed strong, the accuracy and game execution was by professional standards...woeful. Glasgow have just as much improvement to do as Edinburgh to be a top tier European side.Great to see such a big crowd though. Long may this level of intensity continue for the 1872
@75 heraldic:Am I right in thinking for the last minute Edinburgh try the ref had already blown his whistle so the Glasgow guys stopped? My observation was that the ref was indicating "penalty advantage" to Edinburgh. Quite why Glasgow stopped playing, with Pyrgos standing applauding, is unclear.
A great result against the oddsHas anyone seen ITV's new advert for the programmes coming up over the next few months ?The 6 nations is mentioned but all but 1 of the clips show England. Very biasedScotland, France and Italy were not shown at all and Ireland and Wales were shown from the back in a tunnel before a game. I complained last year to ITV about possible bias during event.
@86 At times it looked like they had drank all the champagne and only had Lambrini left to offer :-)
Glasgow guilty of trying to play champagne rugby, forgetting that you have to do the hard work of harvesting the grapes first!! Need to get the balance right and seem too impatient at times, you don't score from first phase ball that often and too many silly offloads! Wonder how next week will go....!!
Glasgow look like a team that's not being allowed, by the coach, to play the way they know best, they're torn between two modes of play and not doing either of them very well. Just a thought, where are all the England supporters who were saying a few weeks ago that running in 53 points against 14 men is no indication of form?
Hate to say it, but Glasgow appear to have gone backwards under Rennie. Yes 10/11 sounds good but Leinster, Scarlets etc have improved as the season has progressed, while Glasgow look bereft of ideas at times, and utterly woeful in defence. Edinburgh have improved, but I think even the Southern Kings would have prevailed against this Glasgow side.
Glasgow obviously still in a strong position in the pro14 but some kind of rot has seeped in.. They are not the Fiji 7s team so they should forget that and get back to the art of winning!
I would normally have watched the match on BBC Alba with Gaelic commentary. But was surprised to find it on Sky Sports, so watched that instead.Still reeling from the shock result, well done Edinburgh. Simply put , they knew they could win and wouldn't be denied, sheer determination and self belief. The National Team ,pay attention , and learn from that display of very very hard work.
Edinburgh played better rugby and deserved to win. Glasgow definitely missed the likes of Swinson and Wilson in the pack. Probably the worst I've seen Glasgow play in a long time though
