@1065 Christ, how much more stupid (even a drunk wouldn't make such ridiculous statements!) and pathetically insecure can your statements get?
I still think that the BBC Team of 2018 will be the England Team....simply because they are just the best at everything they ever do.EJ can be named Coach of the Year too. They can also be crowned 6n Champions at Twickenham next Saturday on the basis that they are England and are awarded the trophy on that basis.
I'm a Scot. Please keep Ford. He provides so many try scoring opportunities.
I'm enjoying watching both codes of rugby these days.RU has certainly changed for the better over the years. Back in the sixties as an 11 year old scrum-half I sold a dummy and scored under the posts. The try was disallowed and I was sent off for "ungentlemanly conduct"Later In the changing room the ex-army PE teacher told me that there was no room in his team for unfair rugby league tricks!
#1059 AndyTotally agree. I have been involved similarly for years and it's a constant frustration. My local Championship team side won't pick the best 19 year old fly half on their books for the Academy/ Development side until he makes 90kg !! Ford is less than that. Size and power obsession even at number 10 is crazy.
RU is the best sport in the world in my eyes BUT there are some troubling developments which have peaked in the last 12 months.1. The importance of playing the ref at the breakdown and not the laws2. The 'safety culture' which last season focused on neck rolls (remember them?) previously tip tackles and this season's vogue appears to be head contact.Who thought RU would be like this ?
1058 To be fair NZ currently have the right to say whatever the hell they want in rugby terms. In the here and now they genuinely are at the summit, a better team than England, Wales and anything else we have to offer up here. The only NH team that currently comes close is Ireland, and even they're coached by a Kiwi!
Agree with Kitopa’s astute views - especially open-side flanker. Other nations produce very effective 7s - England - none...why?English rugby is size obsessed - picking size over skill, ability and talent - myopic, arrogant and stupid. I was involved with U16/U18 county & divisional rugby. Smaller stature 7s - talented lads with vision and pace were condemned as too small - and omitted...😡😖
1057 Tell that to NZ! They will quite happily tell you that the 1st RWC alone is a summit!
@1054 & @155 Nope 2015 is nothing in the grand scheme of things; I'm certainly not dining out on it. Not saying winning the rwc wasn't an achievement, but it was another era with completely different players. Time to move on (just as I think we Welsh need to get over the 70s team, great as they were.) History means nowt here and now, and England are no more at "the summit" than any other NH team.
No No 8 for England. Billy - good but overdone IMHO. Nathan - a notch below Billy. Simmons a completely different proposition. England need to decide whether to go LUMPS or SPEED
@1053 if 2003 was the last time a Northern Hemisphere team won the World Cup that's not my fault/problem/issue. It is a fact that along with the 2 other appearances in the final which has been matched by France. France being a separate country. The diatribe on here is really quite tedious. When another team climbs the mountain and wins something of note England will be at the summit to meet you.
@1053 Well lets be honest, some of you are dining out on winning a game in 2015 (it was Australia who nailed the coffin) and thats nowhere near the achievement of being the only NH team to lift the Webb Ellis Trophy!
1047 - how long are you going to dine out on that? At 15 years it's well past its sell-by date. Time to get some new material methinks.
@1051 Would that mean......gulp...... the end of the world?! No but imagine the joy for SOME of the Celtic posters, they could add it to us being knocked out in the pool stages!
If and it's a big if Ireland beat England next week, England if Scotland beat Italy and Wales lose to France England would finish 5 th. gulp.
