@223 No HAP it's all leagues, remember the Scarlets not releasing Thomson for the AI match? You'll notice that the SH teams don't play outside the window in the June tests!
@221 it's not 'England' but the Gallagher premier (english) league - two separate bodies. The GPR seemingly exercises a lot of influence over the (E)RFU but regularly has a sulk when players from other countries go off to play games outside of the international window.Halfpenny had a similar clause when at Toulon I believe & they had a moan when he went to prepare with the Lions (from memory)
@221 think it's a universal problem
Are any of the other countries saying that they won’t release foreign players or is it just England?
@218 jacktheladDont be stupid! there is no problem yet, none of the unions have made any comment at the moment
If I was playing in the English premiership, and i was chosen to play in the world cup, I'd go to the camps, regardless of what they say. I know it only the camps but still, it's a players dream to play in the world cup, knowing a player might not be available for the camps, may make the coach think twice about selecting them. They shouldn't be allowed to do this
There’s always a problem in Welsh rugby, and it’s usually the fault of the English,and people say it’s us that has the phobia.
@212 oldfatpropDont be so stupid!There has been no response from any of the other unions involved yet. Its more than possible that they will insure their own players. Dont make a big issue out of something that as yet has not been perceived as a problemThat is your usual style so no surprise thereIts the Fijians, Samoans and the other poor unions l feel sorry for but McCafferty wont care !
215..I can't answer your car insurance dilemma. I have the intelligence to understand the problems, and if common sense prevails and it's resolved, there will be another reason dreamt up to stifle other teams. I hope I'm wrong, but it happens time after time.
@213 They have in the past,it’s simple really pay up then there isn’t a problem would you pay someone else’s car insurance?Oh I’m hiring a car next week do you think they’ll pay the insurance for me?Please get real.
As an Irishman, I think it is quite right that this is happening. Keep them for as long as possible. That English league is very important.
So, the likes of Koch, de Klerk, Le Roux and Louw and maybe Reinach, won't be available for SA training camp prior to WC? Hmmmm! Will the French league, who have more imports than the English Premiership, also make such restrictions?
Typical celts when money is the problem get the English to pay !All they’re asking for, is that the nations who are asking for EARLY player release to prepare for the World Cup have their players insured properly the England players are.If the players are insured properly they will be released but why should GP clubs pay for other countries lack off insurance,can’t afford it isn’t an excuse.
203. Posted by Rugbyman"The senior clubs don’t care about eng only themselves"Try reading the article. This isn't an issue for England.
