Leinster extended their lead in Conference B of the Pro 14 to 27 points by hammering Southern Kings 59-19.

Tries by Bjorn Basser and Sarel Pretorius put Kings 12-7 up at the RDS.

But Leinster prop Ed Byrne notched two tries in four minutes with Noel Reid also scoring his second try as the home side moved 24-12 ahead by the interval.

Barry Daly, Andrew Porter, Max Deegan, Paddy Patterson and Rory O'Loughlin added further Leinster tries after Ulrich Beyers' Kings touchdown.

Despite Leinster being without all their frontline Ireland players, the struggling Kings went into the contest as rank outsiders after their 43-0 hammering by Munster last weekend.

However, after centre Reid's opening fifth-minute try, the visitors did produce some resistance as Basson outfoxed fit-again Leinster wing Fergus McFadden to score before Mike Willemse's burst was finished off by scrum-half Sarel Pretorius' close-range finish.

But the two Kings tries only served to fire up Leinster, and in particular livewire prop Byrne as he followed up his 24th-minute score by muscling his way over for another score in the 28th minute.

Reid's second try banked Leinster's bonus point before the break, although their advantage was cut to only five within two minutes of the restart as fly-half Bader-Werner Pretorius' burst allowed him to send in the overlapping full-back Beyers.

But Leinster full-back Daly's try, after a superb Ross Byrne off-load, burst the dam for Kings as four further touchdowns followed in the final 26 minutes, with prop Porter, Deegan, Academy youngster Patterson and O'Loughlin all on target.

Fly-half Byrne kicked seven conversions as he produced another fine display following his omission from Ireland's Six Nations squad.
