If England had picked on form in the SN rather than backing the so called 'star players' like Tuilagi they might have won the Calcutta cup. Not one of those players would make the welsh bench. They deserve to be relegated
A Teams results are rarely about one player .. therefore one player if good enough could come from Champ or below...important thing is not to create meaningless tournaments for a ringfenced few .. that these also create injury risk. Prem and Pro14 need to be cash aware not reliant on sugar `persons`. Pro/Rel must always be a part of any sport. Orrell were they first winners …and on the come back
What's all the new hullabaloo about Eng picking Championship standard players? They've being doing so for years.
If Prem and Champ dont join and create 2x14Team leagues [Geo split Se/NE ~ Sw/NW] regional Pro/Rel then EngChamp should expand to 14 with two Guest 2nd Tier nations [guests can have Rel/Pro or even be based at UK Ground ]. 2nd Tiers would bring their own TV interest expand TheRugbyWorld. Else If it went 2regional leagues then playoff top 4 of each by 1/4 1/2 finals to find `champions`.
I know a lot of people dont rate nathan Hughes but how will his international career fair if Bristol get relegated??
I have supported Leicester Tigers for 50+years and, with a heavy heart, would like them to be relegated as I believe that it is the only way that those who run the club will face up to their complete failure to move with the time and to invest in the future with players. They are more interested in commercial income than the team on the pitch and don't realise that money follows a successful team
I thought they already do.
Last Saturday in Jersey I was stopped by a man in a Leicester rugby training shirt asking for directions to the Reds' ground. Was he scouting for next season???
And yet Big Joe was told he couldn't be considered for England while playing for relegated London Irish and therefore 'had' to ,move to Bath. Confusing statement from RFU - not for the first time. And how about Mark Wilson if Falcons go down?
Saracens will win the playoff again. They have probably the best squad in the Premiership, and their forwards are massive, and they also have big backs. Not sure how they manage to pay this big squad, and English internationals within the salary scale imposed by the RFU.
Leicester will not be relegated, far too good to go down
Ring fencing will work if it is temporary and the additional monies are diverted too the Champ clubs, at present more than 80% of the Champ teams do not have the fan base or stadiums needed. The money spent on overseas players to prevent relegation can be used on home grown talent. None league soccer teams have better grounds RFU you need to focus help for these stadiums which will attract fans
91 anglophoneAll the Pro 14 UK teams are provinces so there is no obvious place for them to be relegated to so that will not work unless another div to include Georgian and Romanian clubs is introduced say 2 divisions of 10.If Leicester were to go down l think Prem clubs would want to move goalposts, that might happen anyway before end of season.
Meant @78 Whiskey and chips not Auto phil
11. Auto Phil "The worlds most exiting back"You are having a laugh. The worlds worst diver, a player who goes off early when it's raining because he doesn't like to get his kit dirty
88 IantoWales won the 6N...deservedly so and I have no complaints. This article is about club rugby and, if you've been listening, you'll know we've had a year of BBC sponsored love-in over the Pro14 and it's superior model in the absence of promotion or relegation. Welsh clubs, curiously, are some way off the pace right now.Do you want relegation in the Pro14? It's a fair question?
