Tom Youngs: Leicester & England hooker banned for three games by RFU
Leicester and England hooker Tom Youngs will miss three of Tigers' remaining four Premiership games after being banned by the Rugby Football Union for dangerous play in the loss to Exeter.
The 32-year-old was sent off by referee Tom Foley for making contact with Ollie Atkins' head in a ruck on Saturday.
He was dismissed after 56 minutes having been adjudged to have made no attempt to wrap his arms around Atkins.
Leicester are 10th in the table, five points above bottom side Newcastle.
He could have faced a six-week ban but the RFU said in a statement that "given his early plea of guilty, his candid evidence to the panel, obvious remorse, playing record and personal mitigation including off-field mitigating factors, exceptionally, the panel felt able to reduce the period of suspension by three weeks".
