91 AllSaint - gutted Bath did not make top 4 - just needed a draw at Sale and we would be there ( not to mention many last minute tries conceded). I think the facilities are fine in the context of such a fantastic location
To all those who keep banging on and on about the league toppers should be the champions.... Do you not understand that the table would not look like it does today if that were the case? Sensible teams play squads to meet the current rules and as such Saracens have fielded a team of second or third choice players in the last few rounds to concentrate on Europe, not to mention the internationals.
89 Anglophone "Playoffs only serve to hand out a potentially undeserved victory or, more likely, injure tired players!"If either Exeter or Saracens win, then they will have deserved it over the season. The tired players argument doesn't apply as their players have been rested in the last few weeks.Of course it is about money, but having a show piece final is also good for rugby generally.
@70 Route1,If Exeter and Sarries get to the final, then around 2/3 of the starting players will be English qualified. Mostly from the academy systems of the two clubs.There are questions about how the salary cap, but the list of players to come through Sarries academy is impressive.The clubs who have depended on big name signings (Wasps, Tigers, Bath) are not going well.
Well said Starfighter, England badly missed leaders.
It's great that the nice Mr Hartley is back. We missed him in the 6 nations - we would not have drawn the Scotland game at the very least. We are in desperate for his leadership skills. We will not win the World cup without him.You know I'm right. X
@90Yes, I agree. I was there yesterday, but I think we're going in the right direction. Kudos to Wasps though and I was impressed with the Ricoh, a good view from anywhere in the ground.
Gutted Bath scape through again. Most overhyped club in Britain from the richest club and repay their fans with the worst facilities.
A bit disappointed with Harlequins missing out in the play offs when they looked very good for fourth spot a couple of months ago. However i wasnt convinced when they won 5 on the trot and i said they were just as likely to lose the next 5 on the trot as they are too inconsistent and i was proved right. Defence is better but they still ship too many points and has to be worked on for next season
The playoffs are a cynical marketing ploy to extract a few more pounds from the viewing public. The team that comes top should win the league...pure and simple.Playoffs only serve to hand out a potentially undeserved victory or, more likely, injure tired players!
We should also stop rewarding teams that have been beaten with bonus points. Teams either win or they don't. Such points could mean the difference between top 4 and/or relegation....ridiculous!! There is actually such an anomaly in the league table this season if you look closely at it! Scrap all such points and elevate try difference in the tie -break
The play -offs are an anomaly which, by the way, is costing the game an even bigger audience! I understand the international call - up argument, but - and has been said by others - the biggest clubs that give the most players, seem to be able to cope with deeper squads! At the very least, the play off system should contain no more than the top 3, with the league winners immediately in the final!
If you Top the league that should be it - leagues are about consistency and having strength in depth to cover injuries and international duty. I’m not against the playoffs but that should be playing for a different trophy. As it currently stands a team that has won only 11 (6 behind Exeter) games could win the premiership if the opposition they face have a bad day at the office.
Leicester play most of their matches with 14 players.To understand this scope out Barnes' Times article on England's substitute no 3. So they handicap themselves week after week.Their position in the table is hardly a surprise therefore.
40 "would be miffed" is not the phrase that I would use!
@64 Guy Thompson...
I bet Jonny May feels like a right tit now hahahahaIf we did go all the way (a big IF) that would just be the icing on the cake.Bring on Sarries next week!
@80 What like Man City?@76;More love for EJ he has a better record internationally than any other 6N coach especially at the W/Cup
