On the salary cap, there are only 2 ways forward, close the loop hole or open up the cap for everyone. Not forgetting though that a large part of this Sarries team is home grown. No one wants a situation where a rigid salary cap means SOME of our best players go abroad to earn more. Spending a lot does not guarantee success I should know as a Quins fan.
Nice one Lady P 68Hope you have a good time next season in The Shack. It wasn’t really a crushing but having so many Saffers will help them avoid the 6 nation worries next season. hmmm Didn’t someone else do that before?
Sarries on for the double!
Plastic pitches make huge economic sense but the players generally don't enjoy playing on them and the increased number of short and longer term injuries is pretty compelling. If Ollie Thorley was 50/50 to play yesterday on a grass pitch with a knee problem it was a no brainer that he didn't play on plastic. Yes S.Rich I dislike all plastic pitches not just Sarries.
@75 One thing to consider about the plastic pitch is that loads of kids get to play before the games at Allianz Park. There's also a great atmosphere at the end when the crowd get to come on the pitch. And the stadium is used all week long as a community facility.
71 Fred: Well, if you have to you have to. But iirc you get more knee and ankle injuries on plastic and the player attitude can be summed up as Ugh. We'll be more sore after the game, according to Care on RU weekly podcast.
As the old cliche has it: the forwards win games; the backs determine by how much. So "Farrell wins battle with Cipriani" is nonsense. If they'd switched teams you would see Cipriani in a different light.
@71 I just think Sarries wanted to try something different and be innovative after seeing it work in the USA they decided to try it here speaking to the players they all enjoy playing on the surface
71 - Multi-purpose.
70 S.Rich: For me, there are situations where plastic might be best. Falcons I believe had trouble with frozen pitches. Not sure about Worcs. Have a feeling they are prone to flooding but might be thinking of cricket. What's Sarries reason?Grass is better if you can, imo.
