97The Brentford ground that London Irish are sharing next season? Three's a crowd.
99- having watched both games against you i’d say there’s a lot more to come from you next season if the conditioning (Naiyaravoro’s in particular) and the scrum can be sorted. Boyd’s got you playing a good style.
95Your first two points are correct for sure. But since when does anyone take any joy out morally winning, er, nothing? Chiefs haven’t won the championship, it’s as simple as that. Whoever wins next week will be the champions and then Exeter can be morally satisfied with runners-up medals again!
As a Saints fan - it would've been a travesty to see us in the final! We yo-yo'd with rest of the middle pack sides, and while I think we did enough to "deserve" European rugby next season, no doubt in my mind Chiefs/Sarries should be the final (if we need a final at all).Exeter - well done for winning the league, if you get turned over on a coin-toss match, unlucky, but you still came top.
@72 Herstbean. Don't forget Chiefs also missing Internationals Cowan-Dickie & Sam Simmonds (inj)
Ealing are far and away the best second-best Championship side again this season. The real problem is ground capacity (4000 max) and money. Need a keen financial backer and a share in (maybe) Brentford's ground?
drop the autumn internationals and have the six nations at the end of the season after the prem final between the top two only. During a world cup year club teams should not play any League games during the WC tournament (play rugby cup games instead) and six nations scrapped for that season, simples!
Well done Exeter. I don't think they'll beat Saracens on Sarries current form but they can have the satisfaction of having morally the won the league and being the poster-boy for a sustainable pro-rugby setup.
@93I agree with you about the autumn internationals, but that ain't going to happen for the reason you say!Reducing prem by one won,'t happen either. Enough fuss over ring- fencing as it is, without losing another team!Your idea for EC format could work, but only reduces 2 games. So we are stuck with the compromise of the play offs. Embrace the excitement of a final and a day out at Twick
@92Well if money & greed weren't the driving force in rugby nowadays I'd say cut the number of ints by 2,don't need to see us playing Aus & SA every year, kind of loses its appeal now,cut the Prem by 1 team, make the EC pools of 5 but only play 4 games,2 home/2 away, take your chances on the draw out of a hat on who you get. That would cut the number of games by 6Pie in the sky of course 😁
@90 There is no way that clubs would allow their players off for internationals if the league was a straight winner takes all. Please tell me what the alternative is, that will satisfy prem clubs, RFU and European rugby and player welfare?Remember 22 weeks of Prem, 9 EC and approx 11 weeks of ints. I respect you pov, but there has to be compromise.
Looking forward to the final. Exeter must take every chance they create if they are to beat Sarries machine. Slade and Simmonds have to make some holes in the Sarries midfield. Not easy, even with Barrit missing. Will Baxter tell his forwards to take on the Sarries? Not easy to out muscle their pack but if any team can its Exeter.Heart says Exeter. Head says Sarries. Two great rugby sides.
