Britain's John Pink and Stuart Bithell could only finish third on the final day of the 49er European Championships off the Portuguese coast.
The duo had suffered a disqualification in race five on Saturday.
But they won Sunday's ninth and final race to pip Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen of Australia to the podium.
New Zealand's Peter Burling and Blair Tuke, who began Sunday's racing in third place, took gold ahead of German duo Justus Schmidt and Max Boehme.
"We're pretty happy to have come back so strong after a disappointing outcome from our protest yesterday," said Pink.
"But that fired us up for today and we had a good first race, an average second. We didn't actually know the points going into the last race and we thought at that time we were still going to have a medal race."
Another British pair, Dylan Fletcher-Scott and Alain Sign, were back in sixth in Porto, with James Peters and Fynn Sterritt 15th.
