Four-time world champion Giles Scott won one of five British gold medals on Sunday at the final World Cup event before the Rio Olympic Games in August.

Scott, 28, took a one-point lead into the race, finishing second at Weymouth and Portland to win the Finn class.

Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark topped an all-British podium in the women's 470, while Nick Thompson took Laser gold.

Charlotte Dobson and Sophie Ainsworth won in the 49erFX class; Ben Saxton and Nicola Groves did so in the Nacra 17.

Seven of the British team's 13 medals were won by crews who will compete at the Olympics this summer.

"It's very much a stepping stone to put everything in a place in Rio," said Scott. "But ultimately it's a regatta and everyone wants to win it, so to be able to do that is great."

Women's 49erFX winners Dobson and Ainsworth will make their Games debut in the event in Rio.

"We always said that this for us was a practice Olympics and where we would start putting our game plan into action," said Dobson.

Double Laser world champion Nick Thompson was joined on the podium by team-mate and training partner Elliot Hanson, who took silver.

Thompson said the pair had been working hard together for Rio.

"For him to come here and finish up second is fantastic, and also sends a message to the rest of the world," he added. "I've got the best training partner in the world at the last event going in to the Games."

Silver medallists Sophie Weguelin and Eilidh McIntyre completed the women's 470 podium alongside Amy Seabright and Anna Carpenter, with Luke Patience and Chris Grube taking bronze in the men's event.

A British one-two in the 49er medal race secured a silver for Dylan Fletcher and Alain Sign and bronze for John Pink and Stuart Bithell, as New Zealand's Logan Dunning Beck and Jack Simpson took the gold.

Emma Wilson and Izzy Hamilton added silver and bronze in the RS:X women's windsurfing event.
