Scotland U21s' Wotherspoon braced for Austrian backlash
David Wotherspoon is bracing himself for a revenge mission when Scotland's Under-21 take on their Austrian counterparts on Monday.
The Scots pipped Austria to a play-off place for the 2011 Uefa U-21 Championship after claiming a late win when the side's met last year.
Though Billy Stark's side missed out on this year's finals, Wotherspoon still expects a reaction from Austria.
"That will be in the back of their coaches' minds," he said.
"They will be out for revenge against us for putting them out in the last minute of the game.
"A few of the boys will remember those games but it's a fresh start for most of the lads.
"It's a clean slate for them and hopefully we can show what we've got."
Austria visit St Mirren Park for the Scots' third fixture in Group 10.
"It felt like it was going to be the same campaign again when the draw was made," added Wotherspoon.
"It's good that we've got them again because we know some of their players who have stayed in the squad and we know we can get good results against them.
"We are looking forward to this game."
