Shinty: Champions Newtonmore open with win
The new shinty season got under way with five games in the Orion Premiership and Newtonmore opening the defence of their title with a home win.

Last season Kinlochshiel were Kingussie's bogey team but on this occasion victory went to the Badenoch side. However, Kingussie did have to come from behind twice with Duncan Ach MacRae opening for Shiel on half-time and Martin Dallas equalising on the hour.
Finlay MacRae got Shiel's second but three in nine minutes, a Lee Bain strike on either side of James MacLean's goal, rounded off a 4-2 win for Kingussie.

Dunky Kerr scored the Premiership's first goal of the new season for Kyles eight minutes into their 3-1 home win over Oban Camanachd. Roddy MacDonald and Ewen Campbell made it 3-0 by half time before Scott MacMillan grabbed a late reply for newly-promoted Camanachd.
The other promoted team, Lochaber, fought out a goalless draw with Lovat at Spean Bridge.
In addition to Skye's flying 6-1 start over Inverness in North Division One, relegated Kilmallie beat Beauly 4-1 at home while the top scoreline in South Division One was Glenorchy's 5-1 home success over Aberdour.
Next season, the second tier will comprise the two relegated Premiership teams plus the top three from each of North Division One and South Division One.
