Feature - BBC Scotland search for Unsung Hero

BBC Scotland is seeking nominations for this year's Sports Unsung Hero award.

Suggestions are welcome for those who voluntarily assist a club or individual to participate in sport.

The winner of the Scottish award will be invited to the Sports Personality of the Year awards in Leeds on 15 December.

They will also be one of 15 other regional recipients who will be considered for the overall prize.

Nominations forms can be found here and must be received by the closing date of 2359 BST on Wednesday 16 October 2013.

This year's BBC Scotland's Unsung Hero ambassador is Susan Egelstaff, six-times winner of badminton's Scottish National women's singles title.

Egelstaff said: "Volunteers in sport are so important, they're probably the most important thing, especially in getting kids involved in sport as well as running clubs in the community. They are vital.

"If you have been helped by someone, then nominate them for the Unsung Hero award.

"It's a really nice way to thank them, and show how grateful you are for the time and effort they have put in."
