Mark Selby booked his place in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in Bendigo with an unconvincing 5-3 second-round victory over Mark Davis.
The Leicester potter made breaks of 65 and 73 to lead 2-1 but struggled for fluency after the mid-session interval before edging through.
Selby had staged a fine comeback to beat Joe Perry 5-3 in the first round.
Leicester's Tom Ford beat Jamie Cope in the first round but lost 5-0 to Stuart Bingham in the second round.
Selby trailed 3-0 against Perry and was struggling at 68-13 behind in the fourth frame but the Leicester potter rattled off five frames in a row to progress.
Selby said: "Joe was brilliant in the first three-and-a-half frames and I should've gone 4-0 down. But I managed to grind myself back into it."
