Joe Swail back on world snooker tour after season as amateur

Joe Swail has regained his place on the professional snooker tour after competing this season as an amateur.

Swail, 43, lost his professional tour card at the end of last season following a couple of lean years.

Despite playing as an amateur this season, the twice world semi-finalist reached the final of one of the Players Tour Championship events in Germany.

That helped him qualify for the Tour Championship finals in Galway where he lost to Mark Allen in the second round.

Swail spoke of his delight at earning his place back on the tour for the next two seasons.

"Just accepted a two-year card back onto the main tour after a difficult few years and a return to form. I'm so looking forward to it," tweeted the Belfast man.

Swail missed out on a place in this season's World Championship after losing to Mark Joyce in the qualifiers last week.
