Australian Open: John Higgins to play Martin Gould in Bendigo final

Martin Gould will face John Higgins in just his second ranking-event final after beating Stephen Maguire in the last four of the Australian Open.

The Englishman, 33, raced into a four-frame lead in Bendigo before closing out the match 6-1 to quash Maguire's hopes of an all-Scottish showpiece.

Gould's only previous final appearance was a 4-0 defeat against Shaun Murphy in the 2011 Players Tour Championship.

Higgins beat Jamie Jones of Wales 6-4 in the other semi-final.
