Plymouth Devils have made an early season team change with the signing of Australian Todd Kurtz.
It is not yet clear who the 19-year-old will replace in the Devils line-up.
Kurtz spent last season with Newport and the early part of this season riding for reigning Elite League champions Poole Pirates.
He could make his debut for Plymouth in Friday night's re-arranged fixture away at Somerset Rebels in the Premier League Cup.
"I am sure Todd will be a very good signing and his arrival will strengthen the team," said Devils' promoter Mike Bowden.
"He is a rider with some excellent mechanical equipment and I have always been impressed by him.
"I will be re-declaring our team and, subject to approval by the British Speedway Promoters' Association, Todd could make his debut at Somerset on Friday," Bowden added.
