Jim Attwood has taken over as team manager at Belle Vue Aces following the resignation of Jim Lynch.
The Aces have struggled on the track this season having won just one fixture and sit bottom of the Elite League.
"After the season we've had someone had to fall on their sword and it had to be me," Lynch told the club website.
Attwood, who used to be on the Aces trackstaff, left Premier League side Leicester Lions last month, citing a lack of support within the club.
"It's the dream job in British speedway as far as I'm concerned," Attwood said. "It will be a challenge for me to step up from the Premier League to be manager of an Elite League club.
"This opportunity has come as a shock and it's a great chance. I didn't need to think twice."
