Speedway: Devon Demons name first two riders
Plymouth's new National League speedway team, which will be known as the Devon Demons, have named their first two riders for next season.
Danny Stoneman, 21, returns to the St Boniface Arena after leaving in 2009, while 16-year-old James Shanes joins from Coventry Storm.
"We look forward to welcoming Danny back to Plymouth," said co-promoter Ashley Taylor.
"James is the kind of rider the National League is all about."
Taylor added: "We have seen him in action at Plymouth when he attended one of our Saturday afternoon practice sessions in 2012."
Stoneman was born in Cullompton and rode for Plymouth in the sport's third tier for three seasons from 2007 to 2009 before moving on to Weymouth and Bournemouth.
He has also ridden for Mildenhall and Dudley but spent the last two seasons with the Isle of Wight, finishing the 2013 campaign with an average of 4.29.
Dorset-based Shanes, who has a National League average of 3.46, is currently studying mechanics at Weymouth College.
Plymouth Devils' senior team race at Premier League level, but they plan to use the National League line-up to develop local talent.
