Poole Pirates rider Davey Watt is set to miss the start of the Elite League season after breaking his foot at a practice meeting in Poland.

The Australian will be out for at least two weeks and will miss their first fixture against Swindon on 3 April.

Pirates manager Neil Middleditch told BBC Radio Solent: "It's an injury that he's done before and this break is very close to the old one.

"That is the nature of speedway - it's unpredictable and dangerous."

Meanwhile, Middleditch also confirmed that Poole's Chris Holder and Kyle Newman will be fit to ride in the season opener.
