British rider Tai Woffinden has won his second Speedway World Championship title in three seasons.

The 25-year-old from Scunthorpe secured the title at the Polish Grand Prix in Torun, despite failing to make the semi-finals.

"The 2013 title just happened, it was hard to put my finger on exactly what it was," he said.

"But this year I know everything we've done. We've all worked unbelievably and I've got great people around me."

The former Wolverhampton rider, who won his first world title in 2013 when he was still at Monmore, added: "It feels great to get the reward after working so hard all year. It's definitely paid off.

"After winning it twice you can put me up there with Tony Rickardsson, Nicki Pedersen, Jason Crump, Greg Hancock - and I know I've got what it takes to add even more in the future."
