Ulster trio named in Irish team for European Championships
Three Northern Ireland swimmers have been named in the Irish team for the European Championships in Hungary later this month.
Melanie Nocher, who won a European short course bronze medal in December, will be joined in the Irish team by Sycerika McMahon and Bethany Carson.
Karl Burdis, Fiona Doyle, Nuala Murphy and Shani Stallard are also included in a seven-strong team.
The Irish hopefuls will be chasing Olympic qualifying times in Debrecen.
Grainne Murphy and Barry Murphy, who have both already achieved the qualification standard for the Olympics, have opted not to compete in the Hungary event which takes place from 21-28 May.
McMahon missed out on the Olympics A standard for the 100 metres breaststroke by only 0.3 of a second last month.
Both McMahon and Nocher will have high hopes of achieving Olympic qualification in Debrecen while Carson will aim to continue her impressive season after breaking Michelle Smith's 16-year-old Irish butterfly record in March.
