Britain's Jamie Murray and his Australian partner Jarmila Gajdosova advanced to the second round of the mixed doubles with a 7-6 6-3 victory over Russia's Igor Andreev and Maria Kirilenko.

They will now face sixth seeds Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza in round two.

In the men's doubles Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins had an epic battle against Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, and Dmitry Tursunov, of Russia, but overcame them in five sets 4-6 6-2 6-7 (4) 6-2 6-4.

They will take on Ashley Fisher and Stephen Huss of Australia in the third round after they put out the ninth seeds Eric Butorac, of the US, and Jean-Julien Rojer, of Netherlands Antilles, 6-4 6-3 6-3.

However Fleming and Jocelyn Rae's second round mixed doubles match against 10th seeds Dick Norman and Lisa Raymond was cancelled.
