Anne Keothavong wins ITF title in Germany and rises to 73 in rankings
Anne Keothavong completed her season in style with a second ITF title in two weeks to end the year ranked number 73.
The Londoner, 28, beat Yvonne Meusburger of Austria 6-3 1-6 6-2 in Ismaning, Germany, to follow up her victory in Barnstaple.
Keothavong also took the doubles title in Germany alongside Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands.
She said on Twitter: "Had to really dig deep as I was running on empty and I'm so pleased to win another tournament."
Keothavong finished the season in tremendous form, winning 19 of her last 22 matches to secure the second best year-end ranking of her career after the 61st place of 2008.
"Looking forward to taking some time off now," she added. "Think I deserve my break."
Elena Baltacha ends 2011 as the world number 50, her best finish, while Heather Watson heads into the off-season ranked 92nd and Laura Robson is at a career-high 131.
Stockport's Naomi Broady completes the British top five at 201 in the world, which is also a career-high for the 21-year-old, who plays in Poland this week.
