Britain's Anne Keothavong continued her excellent form at the Qatar Open, beating Austrian Tamira Paszek in the first round in Doha.
The British number two, who is ranked 42 places lower than Paszek, came from behind in both sets to win 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5).
Keothavong had earlier beaten compatriots Laura Robson and Heather Watson to qualify for the main draw.
Paszek was in the Austrian Fed Cup team beaten by Great Britain last weekend.
Keothavong's team-mate Elena Baltacha beat Paszek as Britain won the tie, which was played in Israel.
