Maria Sharapova needs to end her 16-match losing run against Serena Williams if she is to reach this year's women's singles final at Wimbledon.
The Russian beat the American in the 2004 final, but has not defeated the world number one in a Slam since.
Sharapova, 28, said she would "love to change that". Their semi-final is second on Centre Court on Thursday.
In the other semi-final, Spain's Garbine Muguruza faces Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska from 13:00 BST.
