After 9 GS titles and beating Federer in wimledon, Murray and Nadal on other courts, American and UK leaning press,TV and Sport writers thought fit and proper to praise Novak for hisTennis skills, which is very late but better than least or never. Press and commentators better comment on player skills at matches. Above all we are very happy for the great Tennis Show by Novak and Federer.
@408 I think Federer tried to coming to the net tactic in two finals against Djokovic and lost. It really isn't as simple as that.
373 Herminator - what a weird thing to say. Being Serbian has nothing to do with it. I wouldn't support him if he was my nationality. I just hope that scintillating tennis returns, and that's really up to the rising stars. Hope that can do it - at Wimbledon coming to the net would beat Novak - someone will work it out.
RE number 17's commentYou're entitled to your opinion but your comments could be applied to most mainstream sports. In football it's the same 2 or 3 teams that win any European nations top leagues each year, it's usually the same 3 or 4 teams that win Rugby world cup ect. Tennis is in a golden age, fair enough if you don't like tennis but don't say this is a dull age for tennis, that's nonsense.
Djok believes in God, as does Serena. He thinks Serena is the greatest player ever, he has wisdom. And like Serena, he's a champion and fighter with superior skills and mindset to his competitors. What's not to like about either of them?! LOL
i have a problem with djokovic - his connections with the atavistic are too pronounced; he tears his shirt off and beats his chest in triumph, roars like a cave-man, and on top of that attributes his victories to some notion of 'god'. he is unevolved sociologically.....and should be playing soccer instead.
@Pierre 278: 'Murray gets the easy ride usually.....' You CANNOT be serious! In this draw he had Nadal, Fed and Djokovic in his path - including Tsonga and Karlovic. He has had nasty draws in the past too but sometimes the draw opens-up, as it does for other players. This year the player with by far the easiest draw was FEDERER. And still he didn't win!
@399 using phrases like gladiatorial contest won't change my opinion that he should be above all of that. if this was a one off, i would accept it, however, it isn't. as i wrote earlier, he has had a go at spectators before and sworn at them in his native tongue. its not a big deal, but its enough to make him look spiteful
Federer bottled it plain and simple, no excuse for so many unforced errors.
@397. Posted by Jethro. Yes same here. I'm English and a big Djokovic fan. I understand when the media get behind Murray because he's British but this love for Federer is quite sickening. One slam in 5 years. The biggest threat to Djokovic has been Stan and Rafa, and for a limited period Murray 2012/13.
