Great Britain's Gordon Reid has lost in the quarter-finals of the wheelchair men's singles at the US Open.

Reid won wheelchair doubles gold with Shingo Kunieda at the 2015 French Open in June but lost 6-1 6-3 to the Japanese player in New York.

In the women's quarter-finals, Lucy Shuker lost 6-3 6-3 to Dutch player Aniek van Koot with Jordanne Whiley's match set to be played on Friday.

Andy Lapthorne made a losing start to his wheelchair quad singles campaign.

He lost 6-3 6-3 to Australia's Dylan Alcott but still has another two round-robin matches left against American pair David Wagner and Nick Taylor.
