Ah, the trolls again. So full of bitterness (not doubt a product of their own worthless lives) and so empty of tennis knowledge. They are a wonder to behold.
66 Robbie -With me honestly it's not criticism of Murray. I ,like most of us throw my toys out of the pram when upset about something. I would of just thought by now with all his professional advice that Murray could control this number one defect in his character whilst playing tennis.
Great achievement at his age having lived in the shadow of Roger for many years. I loved the way he had the mental strength to hit those big shots and push Novak around. Some great tennis being played now outside of the big four, Nishikori, Pouille and Del Potro as well as Stan. Surely Dan Evans must also believe in himself now too having almost dispatched Stan, expecting more from him in 2017
67. Posted by RaedwulfI like the post. It contains logic and demonstrates an interest in the subject you are commenting on. Concepts foreign to your partner in the debate. I suggest you denigrate the Muppets, they are sharp witted and amusing. Two things keyboard warriors never are. I confess these message board make me question if free speech is appropriate in the post internet age.
On the basis of players who have won Grand Slams in the Open era, Murray lies 18= and no calendar or career grand slam - is he therefore a tennis 'great'?17 Federer (CGS)14 Nadal (CGS), Sampras12 Djokovich (CGS)11 Laver (GS*), Bjorg8 Agassi (CGS), Lendl, Connors, Rosewall7 Willander, Newcombe, McEnroe6 Edberg, Becker4 Courier, Vilas3 Murray, Kuerten, Warwrinka, Ashe, Kodeš
Why when Stan wins do so many people have to slate Murray?? Both their respective achievements stand on their own merit. It is a FACT that Murray has more titles, more Masters and has shown more consistency overall though - and this should be acknowledged. Without consistency in other areas, a player cannot maintain ranking and get a decent draw! Well done to both Stan and Andy!
@68 jenarta MeenWhy not?Besides this is a comments section for the final of the us open tennis or were you just looking for any article with a comments section to air that view? There are other sources for news
Jernata Meen@68 Exactly. The top (non) story about Clintons health merited ofmore importance than the story hidden away on the UK page which affects us all.Just 1 comment after 2 hours, check it out.On topic.Stan played brilliantly,a late bloomer maybe?

It's not really a surprise that Wawrinka has such a great record in finals. When he plays his absolute best he can beat anyone. If he gets to finals it means he's playing his best.
Federer is finished, Djokovich has unfixable health and fitness problems whereas, improving year on year and with his remaining weaknesses being fixable, It's looking as though the future is Murray.
@55 He has always had the game, but his coach Magnus Norman brought him mental toughness and more tactical nous. Has one of if not the best back hands the game has seen...it is a thing of beauty.
I feel for Murray as he has probably played more minutes on the court than most this season. It caught up with him unfortunately. I will not be surprised if he grabs the aussie open and retains wimbledon….
