Just imagine the fallout if she keeled over and died from her now untreated chronic heart conditon during a tennis match. She should have been banned for life to protect both her health and also the ears of anyone within five miles of a match involving her.
Not only should she not be there, but to play on the main court is a disgrace, tennis let itself down driven by money. Sad day for the sport.
With the roof closed on the main court, Rafa was complaining about the noise. If the roof is closed during Sharapova's match, it will be the crowd complaining about the noise.
All I say is "Go Maria. Go!".
Time that drug cheats were banned for life otherwise people will never take sports like athletics, cycling and tennis seriously.....
If Sharapova wins the title, it will be as bad for tennis as Gatlin winning the World's 100m gold was for athletics. If drug cheats can return to their sport then the drug problem will never get fixed.
The Sharapova/Babos match was horrible to try to watch. MS shouldn't even have been there; the noise (from both players) and mode of play left much to be desired. By contrast the Svitolina/Siniakova match was sheer joy - no gamesmanship or cheating (which is what all the noise is all about) just two very talented young ladies playing the game in the manner it should be. And Caroline is spot on!
55. Posted by The pointingfingerof justicetotally agree about responsibility, she is not the brightest spark and over-relied on her team. WADA link was for illustration to see how complicated is this matter. To think that modern sport is free from pharma would be criminally naive.
Well done Sharapova. Apart from her screeching, she has always conducted herself with dignity and gives her all. She did not bleat about her ban for taking a drug which had only lately been proscribed, and is anyway not performance enhancing. Contrast this with her American rivals who somehow managed to obtain a medical exemptions for taking drugs that are banned and do boost performance.
50 Moscow bear. She is a professional player who has an obligation to check the list. Albeit she has on entourage to do this for her but ultimatelyit is 'her' responsibility. What relevance has commentators on here got to do with checking for these things as they are probably not tennis pros!It has been on the list long enough, and going to Russia to get it as it is not approved in the US!!

Great to see her back!! GO SHARAPOVA!!!!
Don't think of Sharapova as a cheat. The stuff she took was perfectly legal until very recently. Clearly she had to be banned but seems like a minor incident compared to some.
Ave Maria !!!
