i hope he makes a full recovery, but the signs are not too encouraging. i do not see see how extended rest to heal a dodgy hip is the answer. Surely some form of surgery is needed otherwise the problem will return after prolonged playing. Especially with his game which is very physical.
Its sad to read derogatory comments about one of our greatest tennis stars ever, espe ially when one takes account if the fact that none of these twits have any real knowledge of the man. He is a proud Scot and the entire UK should be grateful for what he has achieved under the GB banner and give the man some well deserved praise.seems to me we have some nasty rascists around here
As a top athlete, in tune with his body, he is in the best position to judge when to return to competition. I hope he is not pressured to do this too soon. I'd love to see him return to his peak and play accordingly, but his health and wellbeing should come first. All of us who love the game of tennis have been given a lot of pleasure from his playing and hope it will continue for a long time.
So he wants to be with his kids at home during the festive season. Big deal!
AM, good but not a great , maybe the best ever but nobody can remember watching Fred Perry live. Still he can no be a father to his kids and do the school sports days without worrying about his tennis career
The downside of the internet. Those with nothing to say get to say it in public. Ah well, no one said it would be perfect.Andy Murray is the greatest tennis player these islands have ever produced and if current trends are any indication, the greatest they ever will.If this injury results in retirement, as seems likely, he has done himself, his family, and his country proud. Well done that man
@89 have a good laugh at this one. Andy Murray Australian Open finals 5, Australian Open losses 5. If I were him I wouldn't bother catching that flight to Australia.
If Muzza is forced to retire then Tim Henman needs to dust down his racquet and make a comeback for Queen and country. If Bartoli can do it then why not? One more heave - c'mon Tim!!
@85. Posted by Grand Slam KingYour comments make me laugh.Go back to the Man U forums..... Troll.
@83 Inaccurate nonsense about the rankings.
There is no question he is one of Britain's greatest sportspersons of all time. Carried injuries his whole career, and got to no 1 in, possibly, the greatest era of any sport, in what is arguably the greatest sport of all. He has given all of us Brits a box seat in that era. At least when he retires we won't have to listen to the nonsense from the armchair trolls.
This hip injury is seriously debilitating for a tennis pro. Up there with shoulder/arm or leg in terms of restricting movement & ability to 'power' thru' shots. Not saying he won't be winning slams ever again, but it'll take some time before he's competitive against any of the top 10 in match play.See that some saddo, bah humbug types are off infant school now & making pathetic comments.
@83 well said. Murray also won his slams when they were injured too. He got lucky.
I fear retirement is coming! :(
AM got to world no.1 when all the big guns were injured. He's had his day and won't reach those heights again! And don't use age or injury as an excuse just look at RF! Over rated and like alot of British sports people and miserable
When Andy retires from tennis, to recognize his great achievements, one thing they should do is put him on our stamps. Also it would make a change to see someone more miserable than the queen.
