39 Gsk Not only are you a bigot but you're also a chauvinistic pig. Your family must be very proud of you - not. Grow up you troll.
38 yes but not British tennis.The men's game will always triumph over the women's cos the men have more stamina which allows them to maintain the quality of tennis unlike the women who are out of breath after the just a few games,even the higher ranked players seem to gather a lot of weight around the waist and they are one dimensional with their boring baseline rallies. Women's tennis is a joke.
@33 - but you don't rate men's tennis either do you. I quote "British tennis is fast becoming a laughing stock with all these foreign born players representing GB. It's frankly embarrassing. Well done Spain for putting GB in their place. Spain were always in second gear but still managed to beat these overrated " Brits". Great entertainment, made my weekend to see Great Britain lose."
@32 - yes well put. I have been saying the same thing whenever these stupid xenophobes pipe up on the male tennis HYS. Good that BBC moderators are starting to remove such idiotic comments.
We probably won't be seeded for the draw, so we will have one of Russia, Canada, Ukraine or Spain in the April play-off. Personally, I don't care who we are drawn against, I just want a home draw!!
@7I was born in UK and pay taxes BUTI'm a bloke and can't play tennis....
@33We didn't ask you.
With the extremely low attendance, this tie is the perfect example of how pathetic women's tennis is and how much it relies on the men's game at the major tournaments to bring in the revenue. Women's tennis is a joke and they certainly don't deserve equal prize money if you ask me.
Surely people who choose to adopt the UK as their nationality ought to make the people born there proud that others should want to join us (like the countries that want to join the Commonwealth, despite no connection to the former British Empire). It is a mark of admiration for what the country stands for, its values. In contrast there are far too many born there who betray those values!
@20: Me too (about Laura Robson). I hope she manages to overcome the loss of confidence brought about by her long-term injury and return to the upper reaches of the ranking she was lighting up. I hope she takes inspiration from other players who have overcome the odds to bounce back to form and success, and strength from all those of us who wish her the best!
