Well, she's in the finals and it's simply lovable.
Keys must be the favourite but my money is on Osaka, right from the start as the outside bet. Osaka needs to have belief.
Naomi Osaka, is the future of women's tennis, and I think she has a great change of lifting the title on sat if she plays her best. however it wont be easy getting past keys, who seems to have found some good form. good luck naomi
@36 (Myself)I ought to add to that, I can appreciate the skills, and power of Serena (and Venus) Williams, but I prefer the more tactical aspects of winning a point, that is lost when you can just blast down 3 aces to get you out of a bad game.Marion Bartoli was another of my favourite GS winners, just a shame that Lisicki had a nightmare final. But I wanted Marion to win because of 2007
Naomi Osaka does seem to be one of future (younger) stars of women's tennisI was extremely disappointed by Jelena Ostapenko's error strewn blast at Wimbledon earlier this year, and you can see why playing safe and consistent wins ranking points.I just hope that there will be another Graf, Henin, Hingis, or Navratilova, who wins by style and class, not just overpowering the opponent.
Hi treetender: Konta seems to have blown it. Her unwillingless to hit aball at less than 150mph has lost her countless matches. As far as Murray is concerned, he’s basically all washed up.Now that he’s lost almost all his ranking points and his “preferred” entries into major ATP events, he’ll have to compete in “Future” and “Challenger” events to get back.I think that he’ll go for the BBC.
I really hope Naomi wins the title. Serena has had her day and the only way she’ll win is by “out-aura-ing” her opponent. If talent & current ability are the measure, Osaka is a shoo-in.One last point: Where are all the fans? Winbledon is perpectually packed out but this US open regularly shows 3/4 empty stadiums. Is that just the heat, or don’t they care anymore? Is there no air-con???
Very well done and good luck in the next round Naomi.
@31 Konta has had some decent runs at slams (US, AO, Wimbledon) but for now she needs ranking points and a good draw. Just ain't easy when trying to make a come back unseeded, as Murray is discovering. If only Jo had Serena's seeding at Wimbledon ?! Will try and add up what points she got for those 5 big wins I listed @30 but doubt if it was much more than 100 in total?
