Very well done Johanna - a great result. More of the same please. As for Williams, what a terrible advert for protected rankings. Her awful temper tantrums deserve to be punished heavily, that's if she is ever capable of being match fit again.
298 I think opposite and anyway Williams is finished legs are gone.
@296 let's hope Serena does because when it comes to toxicity levels Court is in a different league
@295 - I'm not sad, I'm delighted. S Williams is a toxic individual with one of the worst disciplinary records on the tour. Hope she never reaches Margaret Court's record number of slams, wouldn't that stick in the throat of the BBC!
Sad to say it but Serena is not as mobile as she used to be. You have to get in position before you can hit a ball correctly.Osaka on the other hand, looked as though she would rather have been somewhere else. Maybe she was ill?
285 Roland Garros is the blue ribband for women's Tennis the ultimate tournament. Note they are the only one that puts sporting competition first. Wimbledon is ruled by TV and are prepared to gerrymander the seedings.Great to see Williams beaten today as predicted made to run and run. Well done Sofia great tactics.
Jo Konta is a tennis professional playing for herself. All the prize money is hers to disperse as she fit. She is playing better at this moment than she has for some time. I find her demeanour a little frantic and she is often caught on the baseline, well off the centre line, and then gets passed easily down the forehand. Good luck in the next round.
I thought these comments were moderated at least that's the message I got telling me a comment had been removed as it was not deemed relevant because I mentioned Trump. Fair enough I thought then I read the disgusting comment of m16. BBC please explain why that sort of thing is relevant.
This comment was removed because it broke the house rules. Explain
@285 judorickyou misunderstand me, I'm talking about the majors as they're currently viewed, not the way they were viewed in the 70s/80s. It's been a long time since players skipped the Australian Open because of the travel distance, currently top players skip the French Open all the time.
It makes me smile to see people question whether she's British, the same people are quite happy to call Chelsea and Arsenal English teams, yet when they meet in Europa final they only played one Englishman between them! Double standards or what.
@3 you don’t mind people thinking you’re dumb?
268. Posted by GiBMan on3 hours agoLook forward to posting when she's knocked out by a proper player. Oh wait, BBC won't open a HYS for that will they.Probably not!!! But only because the BBC know tools like you will flock to it to post something childish and unpleasant.
"blah blah blah, Hungarian not British, blah blah blah" - some so-called patriotic people are so used to losing, that they'll strip a woman of her nationality as soon as she starts winning. Check the front of her passport, then check the front of yours. You'll find that they look remarkably similar
@280 Meganyou must be a childAustralia is clearly the least important. For many years, due to travel problems, many of the top stars didn't even attend the Aus OpenRoland Garros is second in the ranking in my bookWimbledonRGUSOAOyou could argue that USO is second if you wantedBut there is no way RG is last
Hi seems a thoroughly nice person who has worked hard for her success. It is nice to see things flowing her way again. See has a good game and is a joy to watch.
Sorry, simply cannot warm to Konta.
I'm so glad Johanna picked Britain as the country to represent because you could have picked Hungary or Australia or any other countryof her choice that's the way it is these days
I do find Russell Fuller's analysis rather pointless
