Missed Aggi last year. Now going to miss Lucie,Domenica and Caroline this year.Cibulkova sure sent a few packing over the years with her strong selfbelief.Gonna miss Lucie,s headband and her lovely blue eyes.
@76 - 'Come off it Liam Broady it stinks of sour grapes to now come up with the poor air quality excuse because you lost yet again! 'True, he did well a couple of years ago but is going backwards. Jay Clarke IMO will be a top 100 this year if he continues to work hard. Great physique a for a player and will do well. Should have been in the ATP Cup instead of Ward. Hope Boulter can stay fit too
cont 86.…...Wee Timmy Henman and mr Castle are extremely irritating too IMO…...more so because for all their waffle,they really didn't do that much........Its their tone of knowitall infallibility which is comical.Mats Wilander is an interesting enjoyable commentator.
I cant take even watching Sam Smith pontificate with the sound off...….Her utterly delusional manner comes across even with the sound off.
Can someone please explain to me why, when talking about an Aussie tournament, in a British news service article, the main headline should be a 16 year old American who has won precisely nothing?One doesn't want to think the worst, but the BBC does make it difficult on occasion.Equality defines an equal state, not special treatment.
Without doubt the biggest know it all and the worst commentator ever who never knows when to SHUT UP is Mark Petchey, absolutely unbearable I have to watch with the sound off. PLEASE GET RID OF HIM!
@82...…..Rod Laver isn't playing?????????????
60. BenaceLook at some of the snowflakes on here... they are not being forced to play and I don't see the GOAT complaining about it.... -------Perhaps because the GOAT didn't have to play the qualifying rounds on account of being the GOAT?The players have the power if they stand as one and refuse to play - the bigger names need to stand up for the lower-ranked players. (I bet they won't.)

I wait,fully expecting to see a comprehensive in depth analysis from Sam Smith revealing the capacity of the human lung and a weather forecast which tells the density of the air in hundred yds squares.After all.….She KNOWS everything else.PS. Never in the history of tennis,with perhaps wee Timmy Henman as one exception does someone boast about the game when they haven't actually done much.
Why only losers complaining about the air quality ? Beat me .
This tournament is going to be a disaster, as the AO usually is. Let's see how many health retirements and postponed matches we get this year. #CANCELTHEAO
Did the intrepid Jurejko not manage to stretch his legs far enough to see Harriet Dart,the one British player who won today?''British number three Harriet Dart reached the third round of Australian Open qualifying with a straight-set win over American Nicole Gibbs.The 23-year-old world number 169 won 6-2 6-3 and faces Italy's Giulia Gatto-Monticone for a place in the main draw.''
Come off it Liam Broady it stinks of sour grapes to now come up with the poor air quality excuse because you lost yet again!
71They're too busy concentrating again on the ladies' number eight,her sister and the American child prodigy to acknowledge that anyone else important is playing.
@69 - 'Relatively speaking, Women's tennis has the poorest standard of any professional sport. 'Female tennis players are stronger and fitter than ever. Hitting the ball harder than ever and the top 100 is a very good standard. Clearly you don't watch much tennis as the only name you know is Sharapova.
All the GB players have tricky draws from what i can see, there are no "gimmes" in any of their first round matches.
Not one mention in this article of the world number 1, Ashleigh Barty. Unbelievable.
