Looks like rafa will fall agonisingly short of Fed's grand slam total - Thiem has his measure now and will probably beat him at Roland Garros.
Classic Nadal, time wasting throughout and then looking to blame anything and everything when it starts to look like he could actually lose...
Dear Roger Federer , you've given my self great moments in Tennis watching you over the years, before you it was Ivan Lendel , your name will go down in history as the Best , everyone has a different Hero, you are mine, i want to thank youfor the bottom of my Heart, retire with Pride Mr Goat
Great match from Thiem, good riddance of Nadal. There will be a new AO finalist, maybe even a new wave champion. Can't be better than that for tennis. No matter what happens to the Grand Slam statistics, Federer is the greatest of his time, Rod Laver was the greatest of his time. The notion of GOAT is for those who think like goats.
@255 InnerWisdomThankyou.I'm a Federer fan too. I seem to be rare in that I like all three of the holy trinity though. Nadal and Djokovic are both incredible.Roger can beat Novak, but the odds are stacked against him. The fact he still competes at 38 tells you all you need to know about Federer.Their monopoly possibly isn't the best thing for tennis, but it won't last forever.
Kenin beating Barty now that really was a 'stun' BBC
I like Ash Barty and if she met Simona in the final it would be a blockbuster but part of me wants her to lose because the crowd are so annoyingAnyway the Thiem Zverev head to head is interesting 6-2 in Thiem's favour, one of Zverev's of victories came in the Madrid final on clay a couple of years ago, I remember watching that he was too good. But the numbers favour Domi!
Nadal overreacted to the time violation as he knows one of his sneaky tactics - slowing things down, interrupting the opponent's flow - is now being targeted. He wanted one minute delays when down break point and all the time. You can see how uncomfortable he is having to 'rush' his serve as his mind and body movements for decades were based on slowing it down - and getting away with it.
265 it's hardly Federer's fault that the seeds he should have met went out. There's 32 seeds so he would have been expecting to meet other seeds from round 3 onwards. That's how it works at all the slams. Nothing is fixed in his favour
Bye bye super salty
Comment number 24. Posted by Cos-my-neighbour-said-so "Glad to se Nadal and his OCD gone ... irritating beyond belief". Do you find people with Aspergers or Autism or a Stutter "irritating beyond belief" ? Why pick on someone who has OCD ?
