Paula Findlay pips Helen Jenkins in Kitzbuhel triathlon

Britain's Helen Jenkins lost to Paula Findlay in a sprint finish for the second consecutive race at the latest World Series event in Kitzbuhel.

Canadian Findlay burst for home in the final 400m in Austria to pip Bridgend star Jenkins by four seconds and seal her third race victory in a row.

American Sarah Groff came home in third spot to secure her first podium finish.

Jenkins said: "I am happy with second. Sarah is so strong."

Findlay added: "I am thrilled, it was a hard race. I have so much respect for Helen, she pushed all the way."

Groff commented: "It was just a matter of having fun. I had a really rough year with injury last year.

"I tried to hang in there as long as I could and it's great being in contact with some really great runners."

In a repeat of the final stages in Madrid two weeks ago, Findlay and Jenkins gradually pulled away from the field on the run.

But despite Jenkins' attempts to steadily up the tempo and break Findlay, the Canadian kept pace with her rival and pulled away over the final quarter of a mile.

Jenkins, who was trying to secure a second British win in two days following Alistair Brownlee's victory in the men's event on Saturday, was the only athlete able to keep up with American Sarah Haskins in the swim.

The pair began the bike stage with a healthy lead but they were gradually reeled in, meaning a large group began the run together.
