Khan got sparked against Prescott and he got sparked against Garcia, however his chin is good enough to compete at this level. It's more a question of tightening up discipline and defense, he was controlling the fight until he made a mistake and got caught. Any sport at elite level, generally you make a mistake and get punished.
And another thing, what is it with Khan crying about rematches? Where was Maidana's rematch? Or, more so where was Paul McCloskey's rematch? Khan's attitude is terrible, he might be British but it's no wonder people don't warm to him.
The lad's getting married next summer so i think he might aswell have one more shot at Garcia in December with Roach as his trainer and if he fails then take a year out to consider his posibillities
People keep talking about the Maidana fight, but overlook a couple of important factors. Maidana was out of gas by the 4th or 5th, and up 'till then hadn't really landed much on Khan, and from then on when he did connect, particularly in the 9th and 10th rounds, he was only landing with 'arm' punches, as he was tired, so for me it still left questions about Khans chin, rather than answering them.
Garcia planted himself in the middle of the ring and showed for me a complete disregard for AK power if indeed he carries any at that weight.Garcia looked more scared of the ref.A rematch is the last thing AK PLC need.Garcia came to fight not to look flash.Time will tell how good he is.Is khan the next Michael Jackson as boy certainly has got some moves, but you need to hit for them to come out.
Kid can`t take a punch or recover quickly enough thats one of his most significant issues which I`m not sure any trainer could correct, you might be lucky enough to get him to not be hit so easily but in this game your always just around the corner from eating a big shot- especially at the top level. He just cannot recover enough, quickly enough when one lands and then he is ready to go anytime.
Thing is , this is all a bit of a joke isn't it. What kind of boxer cannot win unless he follows a plan to the exact letter? The best adaptr when they get in there. He's ok no more perhaps less. We should all be talking about garcia not Khan. Say Khan gets a rematch and follows the plan but still gets hit by a great shot (because Garcia is actually good) what will we say then?
fast hands- better than average power. Bad footwork. Average chin. Terrible attitude and massive ego. Good boxer but a poor fighter . never has a plan b .
I think it's a good thing khan comes back to the uk to train, he is British after all. He needs to work on his defence a lot more, he carnt be getting hit by bunches like he did in his last fight. He needs to stop all this talk of fighting mayweather he is no were his level. I hope he can come back from this.
Have to agree with some of the comments on here, while there is no doubt he can fight, he doesnt seem to have a plan (or at least stick to a plan), hoping that he will knock the other guy out....and his last two fights show that he doesnt have that kind of power
Danny Garica reminds me of a mini Rocky Marciano. The way he decimated Khan - esp the final knockdown. Khan will never beat him.
As the weight division goes up it is more important not to get head hits at all. Mike Tyson was renowned for his hitting power early in his career but his coach reckoned not getting hit in the head was his strength (it slows reaction time). It seems Khans problem may be between the ears, in his discipline.
Why does Khan want Freddie Roach full time? He doesn't listen to him anyway??!!
Khan needs to wake up. Roach told him not to go gung ho looking for the knock out, and he also said Garcias Dad had got under his skin to make him do that. And Khan ignored all of this and went gung ho for the knock out.You dont need a trainer with you 24/7 for 6 months, you just have to listen to simple advice. Not Roaches fault you chose to ignore his advice.Stop passing the buck again!
Listen Amir son, you may want someone full time with you but no one's going to hold your hand when you get in the ring! You're on your own. Grow up, get mature, have a baby - it'll really empower you!
Enzo is a good trainer, but Kahn has worked with the best in Freddy Roach. He didnt listen to him, so Enzo would have his work cut out.
I'm not sure Khan is absolutely world class , but he does belong amongst the better fighters. I think that his problem lies not in his ability to take a shot but rather his lack of power. Garcia was just walking through his punches. It's OK having a dubious chin , Tommy Hearns didn't have the best chin , but what he did have was great power - enough to keep people at bay.
Hey doug , I think you will find the the term chinny is a way of describing your overall ability to take a punch , it doesn't just mean the chin area. When I say that wayne mculloch for instance has a great chin I fully expect him to withstand a punch anywhere on his head if you get my drift.
