Brett Morse achieves Glasgow Commonwealth Games standard
Welsh discus thrower Brett Morse has achieved the Commonwealth Games qualifying standard with a throw of 64.97m.
The 24-year-old from Penarth was competing for Birchfield Harriers in a British Athletics League Premier Division match in Lee Valley, London.
The throw beats the Welsh Athletics' A standard of 60m for Glasgow 2014.
His throw puts Morse top of the British and European rankings in 2013 and sixth in the world.
Morse is the second Welsh athlete to achieve the Commonwealth Games A standard after with a run of 49.11sec in Belgium.
Morse's winning throw was also beyond the 2013 World Championship "B" standard of 64m and leaves the "A" standard, set by British Athletics, of 66m within his sights.
