Andy Powell was denied a debut for South Wales Scorpions on Sunday because of a rib injury.
The convert from rugby union joined Wigan but has been duel-registered with Scorpions.
In Powell's absence, Scorpions slumped to a 52-22 defeat away to time at Oldham Roughyeds in Championship One.
"Things went against us in the second half," said Scorpions coach Dave Clark after a game in which his side only trailed 22-18 at half-time.
"We had those three injuries [to Tom Morgan, Shae Lyon-Fraser and James Greenwood] and George Clarke did well to take the field the way he was feeling.
"We didn't have any subs for most of the second half and we were defending up the hill. It was really tough and we weren't given a chance.
"To lose Andy Powell just hours before the game was disappointing too. He'd picked up a rib injury, was tested by the Wigan staff and wasn't 100%. He's being well looked after there and they'll get him right."
Oldham's win allowed them to open up a two-point lead over North Wales Crusaders - who were not in action - at the top of the Championship One table, but Crusaders have two games in hand.
