Welsh Rugby League to stage three games at Cardiff Arms Park

Cardiff Arms Park
Cardiff Arms Park is to stage three rugby league matches on 27 July.

South Wales Scorpions will play a Rugby League Championship 1 match against London Skolars at Cardiff Arms Park on Sunday, 27 July.

The home of the Cardiff Blues rugby union region will stage two other league matches on the same day.

Valley Cougars will play Gwendraeth Valley Raiders in a Welsh Conference South match, and the Scorpions face the Skolars in an under-19 game.

The event is being staged by the Welsh Rugby League to promote the sport.

WRL's chief operations manager Chris Thair said: "Cardiff was a fantastic destination for Rugby League in 2013 and we hope the public get behind the sport once again.

"The World Cup Opening Ceremony, held in Cardiff last year, in which Wales played Italy drew a record attendance for a Welsh International Rugby League fixture, 45,052."

The first game kicks off at 11:00 BST with the Scorpions taking on the Skolars at 15:00 BST.
