Welsh driver Matt Parry hopes his first GP3 podium finish can be the spur that takes him to the top of the rankings.
The 21-year-old GP Team Koiranen driver finished third in race one of the GP3 event at Silverstone and lies ninth in the rankings after three rounds.
Parry said: "It's still all open in terms of the championship. No way am I out of it, even winning the championship.
"Our goal is to go up to the top."
Parry is two places below fellow Welshman Jann Mardenborough, of Carlin, who had a disappointing time during the event which was part of the F1 British Grand Prix meeting.
"People were still there from Formula One so there was lots of British flags - and Welsh ones as well - so it was fantastic to be in front of them on the podium was a great feeling," added Parry.
"It gave me a huge buzz and confidence."
Parry and Mardenborough head for Budapest on the weekend of 24-26 July to continue their challenges to series currently led by Italian Luca Ghiotta.
"We're going to see how Budapest goes," added Parry.
"At the moment, my aim is just to win races, qualify in pole and see what happens in the championship."
