Welshman Mark Webster reached the second round of the PDC World Championship with a 3-0 win over Ireland's Mick McGowan.

Webster, the 2008 BDO world champion, won each set in the deciding leg.

He hit a superb 126 checkout to win the first set, and capitalised on a missed dart at double top to wrap up victory.

"I haven't felt too well so I'm delighted to be through," said Webster, 32, who will take on Terry Jenkins or Darin Young on 28 December.

"It wasn't great but it was the first round of the World Championship, which is always horrible.

"I've got 10 days off now so I'll go and recover and I'll definitely play better in the next round. My next opponent should not judge me on this performance."
