Jamie Donaldson will play in the Singapore Open after escaping serious injury in an accident with a chainsaw.

The Welshman required stitches in a cut on a little finger.

Donaldson's manager John Fay confirmed he had been cleared to play in Singapore by specialist Mike Hayton after having the stitches removed.

The 2014 Ryder Cup player had to withdraw from this week's Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, a tournament he won in 2013.

Donaldson's return to action is earlier than expected, after initial reports suggested he would be out until the Dubai desert Classic in the first week of February.
