Religious Studies KS1: The Hindu Story of Rama and Sita

Rama and Sita is one of the main stories from Hinduism.

This story is connected with Diwali - the annual festival of light held every autumn.

It is about Rama rescuing Sita from a demon King Ravana with the help of Hanuman and his monkey army.

Part of a series of animated films called Religions of the World.

Teacher Notes

Pupils could make a Diva lamp using clay.

They could discuss how Hanuman and Rama were able to defeat Ravana by working as a team.

How does working as a team help us? Pupils could try out some activities as a team and alone, comparing both to see when are they able to achieve more.

Curriculum Notes

This short film will be relevant for teaching KS1 Religious Studies in England and Northern Ireland, Foundation Phase in Wales and Early and 1st Level Religious and Moral Education in Scotland.
