  • After seven years of preparations, London wakes to the opening day of the 2012 Olympic Games. This is the third time London hosts 主办 the Olympic Games, having done so in 1908 and 1948.
  • A cleaner vacuums 吸尘 the doorstep of 10 Downing Street ahead of the arrival of the Olympic torch 奥林匹克火炬. The Olympic flame toured the UK for almost 70 days and arrives at the Olympic stadium on 27 July 2012.
  • After being carried across 8000 miles (13000 kilometres) the Olympic torch completes the final leg 最后阶段 of its journey. Spectators on the banks of the River Thames watch as the flame sails by.
  • The Queen’s royal barge 王室之舟 Gloriana carries the Olympic flame along the River Thames past the Houses of Parliament.
  • The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stand with Prince Harry to watch the Torch handover 火炬交接 during a visit to Buckingham Palace. The torch has been carried by celebrities, sporting figures and community leaders.
  • A performer welcomes delegations 代表团 arriving at the Olympic Village ahead of the Olympic Games. The Athletes' Village was built to host 接待 athletes and trainers and cost £712m.
  • A performer looks at the Truce Wall 休战墙 in the Athletes' Village, Olympic Park. The Truce Wall was unveiled 剪彩 in London to promote peace at the Games.
