One year on from Hurricane Irma

It's hurricane season, and there are currently three active storms in the Atlantic. A year ago today, Hurricane Irma made landfall in Florida. It was the first Category 5 storm of the 2017 hurricane season, the deadliest and costliest on record so far, and Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria all brought devastation to the Caribbean and parts of the US.

BBC Weather's Tomasz Schafernaker was in Florida when Irma hit - he looks at why last year was so extreme, and examines the prospects for this year.
